The art of drafting has become an international language of graphic communication
used in industry. Drawings created in the United States can be understood in France,
Japan, Saudi Arabia, and most countries. The text may need an interpreter, but the lines,
layout, style, and general techniques have been standardized. It is important in
considering this course, that you as a drafter know and follow the accepted techniques and
standard practices of drafting. Computerized drafting began with the mainframes of the
1950s. However, it took the microcomputer revolution of the late 1070s and early 1980s to
develop Computer-Aided Drafting (CAD) as a practical tool for industry. CAD is an
extremely powerful drawing tool which offers a tremendous advantage over manual drafting
in many respects. For example, it allows drafters to create and modify precise drawings
quickly and easily. The courses offered in this program are designed to develop your
ability and knowledge.
CURRICULUM
Students enrolled in the drafting program are taught a planned curriculum designed to
train you in understanding the theory and physical principles in the art of both manual
