Computer Operation & Repair
The Memphis metropolitan area has a significant number of employers who utilize employees in personal computer operations, repair, and upgrade. As a result, the need exists to train personnel in the field of computer operation and repair. Our program is designed to provide training in computer systems operations, repair and upgrade. We build additional skills by including the important area of customer service techniques.

Three computer courses provide instruction in: basic computer operation, computer terminology, operating systems, computer components, introduction to office software programs, troubleshooting, repair and upgrading techniques, and customer relation skills.

Introduction to Personal Computers:
History and development of personal computers, computer terminology, computer desktop, the control panel and keyboarding are studied.. Students practice working within files and directories. Office software programs are introduced.

Windows Operating Systems:
Introduction to the Windows operating systems. Using, windows explorer, help, fonts and typefaces are studied. Disk and system maintenance, accessibility options, system back-up, plug and play concepts are studied and applied. Various Windows operating systems are compared. Troubleshooting is performed in various Windows operating systems.

Computer Upgrade & Repair:
Safety issues related to computer upgrade and repair are studied and applied. The construction design of older and later model personal computers are taught. Computer components, numbering systems, bus structure, memory, parity memory, error correction codes are studied. Video systems, monitors, floppy drives, hard drives are studied. Data communications, modems, networks, multimedia are introduced. Computer diagnosis and repair is studied and applied. Basic customer relations skills are taught.
