Industrial Electricity
 

 

Property Maintenance
 

This two-year program is designed for those who desire employment in the field of electricity as it relates to industry. The program covers industrial maintenance skills including: electricity, motor controls, industrial electronics, hydraulics and pneumatics. Trouble-shooting and repair techniques are emphasized in each area.

Notice: The program titles of Property Maintenance and Maintenance Technology are used interchangeably and represent the same program.

 

Property Maintenance – Electrical Repair (PM-111)

This is one of three courses in the Property Maintenance (Maintenance Technology) program.

 

The course objectives may include the following areas of residential electrical repairs;

electrical safety, basic electrical theory, electrical terms &wiring symbols, reading basic residential electrical diagrams, locating & repairing problems in electrical circuits, replacing switches and receptacles, circuit breaker design, replacing circuit breakers, GFCI receptacle design & function, replacing GFCI receptacles and breakers, fluorescent lighting fixture design replacing fluorescent lighting fixtures, locating & repairing short circuits, low voltage circuit design and function introduction to low voltage systems. Students may also learn basic residential electrical inspection skills. The instructor may elect to vary the course objectives as needed to best conform to the needs of the class.

 

Property Maintenance – Carpentry Repair  (PM-112)

This is one of three courses in the Property Maintenance (Maintenance Technology) program.

 

The course objectives may include the following areas of residential carpentry repair;

safety in use of hand and power tools, carpentry tools and proper use, basic carpentry materials, measuring various carpentry materials, cutting techniques for lumber, use of adhesives and fasteners,  basic structural design of a residence, repairing drywall, replacing door knobs and hinges, replacing door frames, repairing window frames, replacing windows and frames.

The student may also develop basic carpentry inspection skills. The instructor may elect to vary the course objectives as needed to best conform to the needs of the class.

 

Property Maintenance – Plumbing Repair (PM-113)

This is one of three courses in the Property Maintenance (Maintenance Technology) program.

The course objectives may include the following areas of residential plumbing repair;  plumbing tools and safety, proper use of plumbing materials, basic residential plumbing system,

use and types of PVC pipe and fittings, connecting PVC pipe and fittings, use of copper tubing in plumbing, soldering copper tubing, faucet - construction and parts, faucet repairs and replacement, toilet - construction & parts, toilet repairs and replacement, disposal repairs and replacement, temporary repairs and replacement of leaking pipes. The student may also develop skills in the inspection of plumbing systems. The instructor may elect to vary the course objectives as needed to best conform to the needs of the class.


 

 

 

Air Conditioning, Refrigeration & Heating

 

The two-year program is focused toward training students to become service technicians. Training includes: the basic refrigeration cycle, refrigerant recovery, furnace design & function, cooling load calculations, heat pump systems, auto air conditioning and hot water & steam systems. All systems include trouble-shooting and repair techniques.

 

 

Computer Operation & Repair

 

Machine Shop

This one-year program is designed to provide the student with the ability to operate, repair and upgrade personal computers. The program includes training in operating systems, computer design and the techniques of computer troubleshooting and repair.

This two-year program provides the basic equipment operating knowledge of machine shop work. Machining operating techniques are applied on: lathes, grinders, vertical and horizontal machine and computer numerical controlled lathes.

 

Welding

 

 

This one-year program will teach the skills needed for employment in the welding trade. Techniques of welding practiced include: electric arc welding, plasma arc welding, oxygen acetylene welding and inert gas welding (M.I.G. & T.I.G.) Students also learn techniques of metal fabrication and assembly.
